There is no use denying the fact that health of people is one of the most important factors with determines the state of society and is a key to its further development. It is even possible to say that quality and term of human life influence the level of development which current society achieved. Modern age is said to be rather civilized and the public health service contributed a lot to achieve such high standards. The thing is that this service can be really called one of the most important inventions of society. This statement can be easily proved by the fact that today the lifespan of a common person is much longer than it used to be at least one hundred years ago. People did not have the possibility to be examined by a doctor and that was why very often they suffered from different diseases for whole their life which, obviously, was short. However, nowadays regular medical inspections and approachability of hospitals increase the quality and term of life significantly. With this in mind, it is possible to say that public health service is the most important factor which influences the improvement of human life greatly.

Nowadays, people live in the world which is almost deprived of horrible epidemics or pandemics that destroyed the whole countries (Historical development of personal health services and of public health, n.d.). It became possible due to the blistering development of public health service and its efficient functioning. Taking this fact into account, it is possible to say that this very service appeared as the response to horrible epidemics which devastated countries in the past. Some peculiarities of history served as a good basis for the appearance of different diseases. One of these phenomena was industrialization. Appearance of new plants and factories led to the growth of cities as workers needed “populations shifted to urban centers for purpose of commerce and industry, public health conditions worsened” (What Is Public Health?, 2004, p.3). Needless to say, that the quality of life was horrible. Some measures to improve the situation were needed. Under these conditions, public health service became the only possible variant to avoid all aftermath of industrialization and improve the quality of life. With this in mind, it is possible to say that blistering growth of cities became one of the main factors which resulted in the appearance of public health system. People needed help to survive under difficult conditions of heavily populated industrialized cities.

It is evident that public health system has some unique features which make it so efficient and help it to improve the state of health all over the world. The first and the most important feature is its availability. The fact is that this service is supposed to help people all over the world, no matter what their race and culture are. This feature is one of the keys of the efficient functioning of this service. Additionally, one more unique aspect is that all countries collaborate with each other in order to stop some dangerous and severe diseases. Great number of international organizations monitor the state of health all over the world and respond to appearing dangers. Moreover, great sums of money are given to public health sector or it to develop and create new remedies to struggle with diseases. With this in mind, it is possible to say that these features make public health system unique and efficient.
