  1. Introduction

The Egyptian Food Bank is a non-government organization that began in 2005 to promote the fight against hunger and malnutrition. The model of food donations conducted by the organization has had an intense impact on the communities it seeks to provide with alternatives to a source of food. The organization depends on charity donations from individuals, business organizations, governments, and even global institutions that have a similar objective of eradicating hunger and poverty within the global community. The organization has also sought to establish long-term solutions to the problem of hunger by introducing civic programs for promoting awareness, educational programs, and even advancing the expansion of the feeding programs within the country and beyond.

Africa is a continent that has an inherent problem of access to sustainable food programs for its people. As such, NGOs like the Egyptian Food Bank must raise to promote an effective solution to the problem. The critical need for adopting this strategy is based on the reduced capacity of the African societies to devise effective systems that would promote the adoption of a progressive model that would solve the issue of food crisis within the continent. The failure to integrate these approaches would continue to limit the scope of communities supplied with nutritious food supplies that meet the criteria for sustainability. Similarly, the Middle East faces almost the same food shortage problems despite the vast wealth attributed to the commercialization of oil production. Therefore, understanding the concept adopted by the Egyptian Food Bank in addressing the needs of hunger-stricken communities is key towards eradicating the inherent problem of poor diet and malnutrition within the Egyptian community, the African continent, and the Middle East regions.

  • Research Questions

The first research question is; Does the organization foster a model that addresses the factors of food production as a function for solving the problem of food shortage in the long-term other than promoting the simplistic model of food donation?

The second research question is: Is global warming a contributor to the crisis of food shortage witnessed in Egypt and other jurisdictions with similar climatic conditions?

Last question: What needs to be done to solve the problem of food shortage in the long run?

  • Research Aims

The primary goal is to determine whether the model adopted by the Egyptian Food Bank organization is sustainable and whether it can be promoted globally to mitigate the inherent problem of hunger facing other regions of the globe. The second objective of the research is to determine whether the organization has been attaining its targets of contributing to creating a hunger-free Egyptian community. Lastly, the research shall be directed towards the analysis of the model to determine the areas of improvement that would cause the organization to have a bigger impact on the community it is serving (Al-Aees, 2021). Integrating these objectives in the research is a fundamental approach that would provide an effective solution to the problems being felt by the communities that need the effective supply of food products, especially after the negative impact of the covid-19 pandemic.

  1. Methodology

2.1 Research design and methods framework

The research methodology employed in the study involves the utility of secondary data sources for the advancement of the research. The choice for the model was prompted by the scope of the study being focused on the historical activities of the organization in meeting the needs of the organization. Again, the utility of secondary data for the study was prompted by the time constraint to conduct primary research on the research topic. Therefore, the scope of research must delve into the understanding of the Egyptian Food Bank by studying the historical data generated concerning the organization as a function for promoting the ethical functionality of the model.

  • Concepts and theories

The Maslow Hierarchy of needs theory is an integrated model that expounds on needs and wants as the basic factor for controlling the established solution. The theory groups the needs according to the hierarchy of needs. The psychological needs are at the base of the pyramid, signifying that they are the basic factors the public members essentially need. As such, the advancement of the basic needs within the context of satisfying the needs of vulnerable members of the community must be a vital dimension that seeks to promote equality and fairness within the society. The actions of the Egyptian Food Bank are meant to offer an affirmative action towards the eradication of a problem that is difficult to achieve when a single approach is adopted (Hale, Ricotta, Freed, Smith, & Huang, 2018). Through this organization model, food has been prioritized as the basic factor that enhances the adoption of effective solutions towards the eradication of sustainable solutions to the problem. As such, it is critical that the needs of the community regarding basic needs be solved through the charity model of the Egyptian Food Bank. Addressing the psychological needs of the community is, therefore, a critical function that helps the contribution of the established models that are meant to establish the connectivity of the solution. Thereby, it is instrumental that the organization’s focus was on meeting the basic need of food supply since it is a basic factor in promoting the advancement of effective solutions towards the needs of the society (Hale, Ricotta, Freed, Smith, & Huang, 2018). Accordingly, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory provides an effective solution to the needs of the members of the Egyptian community substantially.

The set-point theory is a model that defines hunger as a lack of energy. The perspective of the theory is in ensuring that the expected parties are involved in promoting the sustainable provision of food to control the negative implication of hunger. An energetic community is dependent on the source of food they consume. According to the model, eating is the feeling acquired after eating satisfactorily (Centre for Clinical Interventions, 2018). Therefore, the community must provide food products to ensure that their hunger needs are addressed sustainably. Therefore, the needs of the community must be addressed sustainably.

The positive-incentive perspective theory is another model that provides an analogy of eating as a function for gaining the benefits derived from the action of eating. In this scope, the primary objective is to satisfy the pleasure of eating. The basic projection on establishing a connection of eating is the determination to satisfy the overall continuity in controlling the estimated pleasure derived from involvement in the eating activity. As such, it becomes vital for an individual to have food products that would satisfy the drive of eating as a factor for promoting inherent solutions towards making the model’s effectiveness in a manner that makes the overall solution critical (Li, 2019). Therefore, the point-incentive theory advances an ideal solution towards eradicating dynamics that are intended to offer a sustainable solution to the needs of confronting the hunger problem. Accordingly, the point-incentive theory of hunger promotes the determination to establish a connection with the need for food generally.

  1. Literature Review

According to Global Giving (2021), the need for promoting the adoption of food donations and charity was prompted by the increment of the number of Egyptians who lacked the alternative for obtaining food. Being an African economic powerhouse and a recognized global economy, Egypt had the sheer responsibility of ensuring that its population did not suffer the shape of malnutrition. The objective of integrating the platform for food donations was to ensure that the ideal solution to the inherent problem of food shortage was addressed. This is the critical factor that determines the continuity of the problem (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), 2018); (African Development Bank, 2020). The critical solution towards the management of the food crisis problem was meant to ensure the progressive balance of food supply to the areas that lacked food. The inception of the covid-19 pandemic had a critical impact on the alternative of food supply to the affected communities. As such, promoting equitable sharing of food produce (Al-Aees, 2021); (Global Giving, 2022). The advancement of equitable sharing of food is a fundamental factor in determining the progression of an effective solution towards creating a society that does not have a negative perspective about the needs of the society.

Addressing the problem of food wastage is a fundamental factor in promoting decency in handling food products. The organization has been at the forefront of advocating for the realization of a sustainable model of providing solutions to the needs of the Egyptian communities. However, a key problem is the wastage of food products by the parties involved in the handling of food products. In this scope, the primary objective is to ensure that progress is maintained within securing a positive model of managing these challenges (Abiad& Meho, 2018); (Flatt, 2020). For instance, developing sustainable models of storing surplus food is an integral approach towards eradicating food shortages since the supplies would be retrieved when the supply is low. This is a sustainable approach towards eradicating the problem of food shortage within the larger Egyptian community with a specific focus on the vulnerable members of the community. Therefore, adopting this approach would help the community in dealing with the problems of food shortage in a sustainable manner (Abiad& Meho, 2018). Therefore, addressing the food shortage problem is influential in promoting a culture that addresses the problems of the Egyptians experiencing difficulties in accessing food wastage.

The financing of the campaign is another critical factor that needs to be understood with the utmost simplicity. The realization of the organization’s dream depends on donations and charity offerings from interested parties. The nature of giving is not dictated by the organization but by the sheer objectivity of the well-wishers who seek to partner with the organization to promote sustainable management of the hunger problem facing the majority of the Egyptian members of the community (Saleh, AbdElghaffar, &AbdElrahman, 2020). The scope of governance of the monies received to advance the solution towards the formation of effective food management makes it possible to realize effective promotion of food management within the Egyptian community. The failure to promote conclusive advancement of the solution towards eradicating food insecurity makes it possible to promote a sustainable approach in the management of the problem. As such, the organization has been effective in ensuring that the financial aspect of managing the resources offered by the community towards eradicating the hunger problem (Saleh, AbdElghaffar, &AbdElrahman, 2020). Accordingly, the institution has effectively promoted a model that encourages openness in the management of resources that well-wishers advance.

The promotion of hunger awareness is a fundamental factor in determining whether the affected victims would be offered alternative food sources. The nation has been producing substantive food products to export a portion of its reserves. From this analogy, the country must adopt a model of managing the reserves to ensure all parties within the Egyptian space are provided with food supplies to sustain their demands. The failure to honor this dimension means that the country does not have an effective solution to the hunger facing the community members. The promotion of sustainability in handling the needs of the community through sustainable sources of distribution is thereby a fundamental factor in providing the requisite solution to the needs of the Egyptian citizens who inherently face the problem of hunger (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), 2018); (World Food Programme, 2022). Conducting civic education to the communities is an effective approach towards creating sustainable management of the problem of food supplies. In this scope, the organization has the obligation of promoting decency when dealing with the problem of advancing creativity within the scope of advancing awareness. This is the ideal solution towards eradicating the problem of hunger within the Egyptian community.

3.1 Discussion

The Egyptian Food Bank is an integral organization that promotes the realization of food security among members of the Egyptian community who do not have adequate access to food products. In this scope, the organization has advanced the ideology of charitable work to the community. Before the inception of the model, much of the Egyptian community members had been grappling with establishing ways of meeting their needs of food promotion (Global Giving, 2022); (Chiwona-Karltun et al., 2021). The onset of the campaign continues to be a critical player in creating an effective solution to the needs of hunger management. Managing the negative impact of hunger in a society is a critical determinant to the positive response to the problem created by lack of food. As such, the source of the effective solution towards developing an ideal solution to the problem of hunger management must be contained within the parameters of solving the inherent problem of hunger. Accordingly, the inception of the Egyptian food bank organization provided the requisite solution to the problem of enhancing the creation of strong and effective solutions to the food crisis within the community.

The management of crisis during the onset of the covid-19 pandemic because of strict government measures installed to control the response to the problem offered the organization an opportunity to mitigate the crisis. Through charitable donations from domestic individuals, the organization established sustainable food products that were supplied to the vulnerable members of the community (Chiwona-Karltun et al., 2021); (Wolor, Solikhah, Susita, &Martono, 2020); (World Food Programme, 2022). The challenges that emerged during the implementation of the relief food distribution emanated from the restrictions that the government had established on the need for addressing the food shortage crisis. The problems of food shortages during the pandemic emanated from the ideal solutions focused on developing the justified scope of protecting the community’s rights that should not be subjected to a hostile environment. Consequently, the organization focused on serving over three million Egyptians who were facing the problem of hunger since they could not access food either because of lack of income or because of the restrictions that the government had installed (Chiwona-Karltun et al., 2021). The need for establishing these dimensions of managing the menace originated from understanding that the community does not have a standardized scope in managing critical problems that require a holistic solution. The organization, therefore, successfully mitigated the negative effects of the covid-19 pandemic.

  • Food and Climate change

Studying the Egyptian food bank model helps create substantive knowledge on hunger management. The challenge of satisfying food needs continues to escalate owing to the issue of climate change. The negative impact of climate change on general food production becomes a critical factor in developing sustainable solutions in the scope of hunger management. The unpredictability of seasons and rain patterns makes it difficult for farmers who depend on the rains for their farm activities. Advancing the significance of managing food production from the scope of solving the food crisis caused by global warming is a fundamental factor that helps build a society that is sensitive to the basic requirements of environmental conservation. Sustainability is a relative factor within the context of food supply. The limitation of the food products becomes a challenge to the organizations tasked with the responsibility of managing the crisis (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), 2018). As such, it becomes critical that the promotion of effective food management practices is adopted by the individuals who do not focus on diversifying the problem to attain the requisite balance in the scope of managing the problems of food crisis. The study of the research field would offer substantive solutions that are meant to attract the adoption of effective and sustainable approaches that promptly promote the provision of established solutions to the needs of the community members.

  • Eradication of ignorance in the community

The study helps in the eradication of ignorance regarding food security for the Egyptian community. Information is a fundamental factor in determining the community members of the community. The decisions of an informed individual are different from those of a less-informed individual. As such, it is integral that the choice of the promotion is focused on creating a solution towards the needs of the members of the target community. Egyptian Food Bank organization, therefore, has an obligation of sharing the reports of activities of food distribution to the community to inform their decision-making choices based on either supporting the course or whether they would forgo the need for offering a helping hand. Conducting charitable work is a personal decision and cannot be mandatory. Therefore, it is instrumental that the model of promoting effectiveness on hunger management offers the requisite solution to the problem. These are critical factors that make the advancement of the solution a critical factor in engaging within the scope of providing an effective solution to the community’s needs. Accordingly, delving into the study would be beneficial in promoting the eradication of ignorance from community members.

  • Advantages and disadvantages

The inception of the Egyptian Food Bank organization in the Egyptian community has borne various benefits therein. First, the organization has led a campaign for eradicating the deficiency of nutrition because of financial constraints. From this scope, it has been critical that continuity of the program benefits a large constituent of members of the community who cannot advance their basic needs. Therefore, adopting the model of managing the food crisis within the Egyptian community must be substantially addressed. The other tangible benefit achieved through the organization is promoting civic education. Advancing awareness within a community is a fundamental factor in determining the progressive solution towards enabling the community members to create a sustainable solution to the needs of the organization (Hale, Ricotta, Freed, Smith, & Huang, 2018); (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), 2018). Therefore, creating an effective model is detrimental to the enhancement of sustainable management of ignorance levels that cause the severity of the hunger effect. Accordingly, the need for promoting these models of managing the scope of addressing the problem is detrimental to the organization’s performance.

Despite these benefits, the organization faces various demerits attached to the organization’s performance. First, the organization can turn a substantial number of the society to become irresponsible because of overdependence on the relief products that the organization offers. As such, it becomes crucial for the achievement of the model in sustaining the requisite progression of the organization through the promotion of inherent solutions towards the problem (Wolor, Solikhah, Susita, &Martono, 2020). The second disadvantage of the program is the promotion of tax avoidance. Contributors to the organization’s charity work are provided with tax relief by the government. As such, the community members could engage in practices of tax avoidance by contributing to the organization’s charity work (Mittermaier, 2020); (Peter & Huber, 2021). These are the possible disadvantages of running the organization within the Egyptian community.

  1. Conclusion

The research proves that the Egyptian Food Bank is an effective institution that enables providing food to vulnerable communities. In this scope, the organization remains a key determinant in creating food safety within the Egyptian community since the projection of the services of food distribution depends on the requisite productivity within the scope of advancing the solution of lack of basic needs. According to the provisions of Maslow’s hierarchy of theories established the importance of advancing the determinants of a progressive solution within the parameters of solving hunger problems’ inherent problems. Thereby, any progressive models that make the unity of purpose the basic factor for promoting the independence of the community members. Advancing within the scope of promoting food security is a critical determinant to eradicating malnutrition facing some community members. Therefore, it is a detriment for the community members to have a possible solution in establishing the inherent solution within the scope of managing the negative problems that arise when meeting the needs of the community.

The considerations of the organization in developing a system that focuses on effective management of problems that are faced by the community is a critical factor for eliminating any form of biasness within the community. Advancing the solution of curtailing the inherent problems of the community is a vital factor in the distribution of critical factors that promote the advancement of ideal solutions within the scope of managing the overall problems that are experienced by the members of the community. The problem of global warming has made it difficult to have an effective supply of food products in almost every part of the globe. Because of this factor, it continues to be a fundamental decision in choosing to sensitize the community on the significance of minimizing food wastage the benefit derived from minimizing food wastage is ensuring that continuity of handling the available rood products with the utmost effectiveness that is deserved. The failure to integrate these models of food management makes it a difficult factor to mitigate the crisis. Egyptian food bank organization has effectively managed to promote substantial solutions within the Egyptian community and beyond.
