Read the following project management scenario that applies to the service sector in the Middle East and prepare a report with the guidelines provided.
Task-1
Scenario: you are deployed as a chief project management consultant for a selected large scale digital transformation (DT) project in the services sector, particularly in the UAE. You are required to (a) introduce the key principles underlying the project scope, (b) discuss project management tools used as part of the project management process (c) the significance of the project team, (d) develop a detailed work break down structure and (d) execute the project implementation plan.
- Critically discuss how can project management lead to the success of large scale digital transformation projects in the services industry.
- Creating a meaningful project charter is the first step to ensuring project success. Critically examine the significance/emphasis of the project charter in the proposed large scale DT project.
- Critically evaluate the wider implications of the metrics-driven project management approach for the DT project. Discuss at least three possible suitable metrics you would recommend for the proposed.
- Stakeholder engagement is critical for project managers to produce desirable project outcomes. Explore how your organisation’s stakeholder engagement strategy is likely to contribute to organisational performance. Further, critically examine how an effective project communication strategy is important to retain and best manage stakeholder engagement.
Task-2
Assume that below are the key activities (A to I) of your project plan (work breakdown structure) for implementing the proposed DT project. As a chief project consultant, you are expected to do the following

- Construct a full-scale network diagram to analyse the logical connection of preceding and succeeding tasks.
- Calculate the time early; time late (TE, TL) for each activity of the network diagram.
- Identify/determine the critical path.
- As a project consultant which technique (PERT/CPM) you would like to recommend for the DT project? Justify.
